Viestikallio - The Great Pumpkin
The Great Pumpkin Project 1998-
For past few years the largest project at the society has been installing a 13.7 meter diameter millimeter wave (up to 100 GHz) parabolic mirror antenna. This antenna, and its protective radome have earlier been in use a Metsähovi Radio Research Station, and its original manufacturer is: ESSCON.
The radome foundation building, base tower, and pedestal machinery is presently (2001) under design with an aim to complete that phase by summer 2002. At that time the most difficult project of it all, acquiring funding, will commence.
The initial estimates about the cost are 0.2 - 1.0 million EUR.
