The Ilmari Project is not a Viestikallio Project, this just happened to be a place where we could host these web-pages...
SUPER ILMARI lab session nro 4: 2002-02-05
At Michaels (OH2AUE) lab, clock 14-22
At present at least following: OH2LAK, OH2JMS, OH2LKV, OH3UW, OH2JCP, OH2MD, OH1JJC, OH1JA, OH1MQK, Paul Fletcher n.c. and of course lab proprietor himself: OH2AUE.
Catering was provided by Maikki Id (Michael's mother): pastries, coffee, etc.
Magically appearing materiel incuded: soldering tin, conformal coating laquer, hartz removing solvent, soldering wick,
two-component poly-urethane,
and single use plastic cups. Lab lost two Weller 3mm temperature 7 soltering tips, which were sacrifised to the science.
Lab session was terminated half forced soon after 10 PM.
- One flight-model of 70cm RHCP trunstile antenna (To be tuned, once urethanemoldmaster OH1JA's product hardens.)
- One spare of 70cm feed+match done. (photo)
- Aluminium soldering with OH2JCP's methods was perfect, but repeated fixes don't look good. This is a one-time process.
- With above-mentioned process, OH2JCP and OH1JJC did one 1.3 GHz "Big Wheel" antenna (definitely a wheel, but not very big ;-) ) but its tuning hasn't been complete success for above-mentioned reasons.
- JCP and JJC made another "Big Wheel" of 0.5mm silvered copper wire. matching 22-24 dB @ 1282 MHz. (WEIGHT ?) (photo)
- OH2LAK has made ATV-TX driver, an OSD for it, along with a GPS interface to OSD. It was tested with OH3UW's 1.3 GHz PA: RF power: 1.2 W. The driver needs impedance and deviation adjustments at the video side, as well as casing. (photo)
- OH1MQK adjusted weights & powers table with new results.
It does look like the ATV-TX can be kept running during the whole mission.
- GPS was missing from previous, thus not quite all of OSD functionality was demoable. GPS-NMEA-interface needs a bit of additional components into IHU.
- OH2JMS and OH2LKV fixed the vector network analyzer, which had given blue smoke previous day. Circa 0.2mm air-gap isn't quite enough for 230 V AC...
- OH2JMS fixed a 24 channel Christie multichannel temperature- (and few other things) logger, and built a serial cable to copy outgoing data to a PC. Cable (and logger) was tested with OH1MQK's laptop PC.
- Junk pile from the front of coat rack has been moved out, and at the next session people can put their coats and shoes into appropriate place...
- OH2MD collected video material of the session, OH1MQK took some digital still photos.
- OH1MQK brought, and made at the session, a few varying size radar reflectors more. Making of the largest was filmed by OH2MD.
- Sensitive info: OH3UW vacuumed desks and floor :)
Next lab-session will be held in the same place at Wednesday 2003-02-19 from about 2 PM until about 10 PM.
