The Ilmari Project is not a Viestikallio Project, this just happened to be a place where we could host these web-pages...
SUPER ILMARI REALITY CHECK meeting nro 1
29.8.2002 AGENDA:
- meetings purpose
- selection of the secretary
- review of the previous meeting - a PPT presentation on web
- Amsat-oh email list
- Interview session of Pauli, OH2DV, and its doers
- Retrieving of remainders of previous Ilmari (XIX) and OH2DV's documents from OH6VM
- Reports from various sub-project leaders:
- is any help needed ?
- is something not proceeding smoothly ?
- Things to be thought about:
- Ilmari chassis will be a test-bed for RATS-SAT technology
- A turnstile antenna for 70 cm
- thermal blanket out of self-assembled kapton/aluminium foil and kapton-tape
- space usable components
- PR value: Ilmari is RATS-SAT test platform
- release mechanism - does somebody want to experiment ?
- nylon line system, could be used for RATS-SAT antenna release
- prototype
- translator mass must be under 200 grams.
- GPS-rx to be prototyped well in advance, unnecessary extras to be removed, antenna to be lab-tested (ceramic patch-elements to be weighted, ground-plane shape and size are critical), is there willingness to lab own patch antenna ? (Who ?)
- Next meeing venue:
- who can sponsor ?
- location ?
- time ?
- hardware to be shown at the next meeting ?
Log notes from the meeting:
- Logger: OH1MQK
- Present were: OH2LH, OH2BGN, OH6DD, OH2MW, OH2JCP,
OH3JAJ, OH2JIU, OH2JBB, OH3UW, OH2KW, OH1MQK
- We have received instructions on the license application process from FICORA, but nothing yet from Finnish Civial Aviation Authority.
- OH3UW: "APRS Tx from Vaisala sondes has problems from 70cm synthetizer phase noice..."
- About the balloon flight:
- Latex balloons will expand, until they burst.
- Kevlar-palloons will not expand, thus it is possible to reach desired altitude fairly quickly, and then to "float" at that altitude.
- We want limited duration flight, nothing like NASA's "month(s) in the sky to navigate around the pole."
- Practical maximum flight distance is 200-300 km, and duration is under 4 hours.
- Possibly flight at the SRAL summer meeting camp from somewhere in the up-wind side of the camp, and with maximum altitude somewhere in camp's vinicity.
- Insulated box model "Tapola" - inner dimenstions 20x25x40 cm. Inner volume roughly 20 dm³ (liters). MASS UNKNOWN (350g)
- APRS TX Frequency: 437.850 MHz ?
- Construction details:
- A sub-frame on which actual modules will be glued ?
- Tasks:
- Nylon line pyros, 70cm→2m Xlator, ATX-TX + keying: Vesa, OH2JCP
- OH2DV interview: OH2MW, OH2AUE, OH1MQK
Estimating the mass budget:
